Why 8 MB?
8 MB was Discord's original free upload limit — raised to 25 MB, then 10 MB, then 20 MB in August 2026 (verified September 2026). But the 8 MB cap lives on: old forum attachments, upload forms, chatbots, and countless guides still say “must be under 8 MB”.
